I gave myself a personal challenge this year: whenever I need to buy something, to try and buy something made in the U.S.A.
I really don't think that this is going to be an easy quest.
I've been needing to get some glasses. We aren't exactly easy on glasses in this house and to tell you the truth, the only ones that seem to last are the plastic ones, but I hate drinking out of plastic glasses all of the time. Occasionally, I like to feel like an adult. Like I can drink out of a real "grown up" glass...made out of...glass. And I also love the way ice cubes clink around in them...but I digress...
These are what I found today. I was shopping at Target (because they have a Starbucks and I need to multitask.)
They came in a four pack and only cost $7.99!
I thought: "No way are these made in the U.S.A."
I loved these green ones.
MADE IN THE U.S.A.
Whooo hooooooo!
SOLD!
I thought: "Hmmmmm...maybe I need new dishes."
I flipped the box over and, sadly, they were NOT made in the U.S.A.
Not sold!
For today, I will love my new glasses and be happy that I supported some American workers.
I'll let you know what else I find. If I have to shop every day, all year, I guess I will sacrifice myself to the cause!
Wish me luck.
p.s. neither Target nor Starbucks know I'm alive, and they paid nothing for the advertisement.
