Crop Art

Many of the sunflowers are done flowering and are now just filling out the seed heads.  It makes for a fun time to "draw" on them.  It's fun to find the art that others have left behind.

    1. At this stage in their development, the "corollas" of the disk flower are very easily knocked off when you brush them with a finger...or anything else. I'll have to do a post on "parts of a sunflower" sometime. :)

    1. Joel, the flowers have all dropped their petals and are busy filling out seed. We will harvest them in about a month. Hopefully by that time, they will be brown and completely dry as well.

    1. No. They bloom only once. The flowers last about two weeks and then they die.

  6. They usually bloom sometime in August. Actual time varies a great deal on weather.
