The sunflowers have full heads of seeds now and we are just waiting for them to completely dry down before we harvest them. What started out as comparatively small flower heads are now bigger than an average hand. The field will be completely brown when harvested. A hard freeze usually helps the process along. Also not getting any more rain until after harvest would be a good thing.
Hi Kris!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to find out how the sunflowers are doing this year?
I have a lovely bride who's hoping to do some of her engagement photos in your sunflower field!
We are thinking July-August, but are flexible depending on how the sunflowers look, and when they reach their peak!
I am about an hour away from you all, so I was hoping to find out sunflower status here! Or, if you wanted to email me that would be great as well! You could use my website, which is linked to my name, and find the contact from there.
Also, just want to note how incredible it is you and your family allow photos to be taken in your field!! So kind and wonderful of you all!
hello! i just moved to Kansas and i was really hoping to see my first sunflower field like this. i was wondering, since im also about an hour away, when would be the best time to come view them? thank you!
ReplyDeleteThey are usually planted in July and Bloom for a week or two at the end of August.
ReplyDeleteWill you be updating the blog this year with the progress. Would really love to come visit!
DeleteThis will be my third year and as always look forward to the early morning drive out there. I still like the chicken noodle soup blog entry!!
ReplyDeleteI drove out to your place three days ago and found nothing but soybeans. I was so disappointed sunflowers are my favorite. Even the house look vacant. Are you still around?
ReplyDeleteOh wow. Glad to know before I took a trip.
DeleteHi Kris! I enjoyed visiting the sunflowers at the farm last September. Is it better to visit this year the last week in August or the first week in September?

ReplyDelete...or at least place a big FACEBOOK fwd link if you haven't already.
ReplyDeleteJ., Facebook has auto generated two additional pages for Grinter Farms with incorrect information. I've tried to have them removed or claim them as my own and have been unsuccessful. They tell me that they can't verify that we are who we say we are. Very frustrating.
ReplyDeleteIs today a good day to come see the sunflowers
