Drooping

The heat is really taking it's toll on the sunflowers.  There is a noticeable difference today in how many of them are starting to hang their heads.  It's 100 degrees at the moment.  All I can say to that is "yuck!"

  1. Do the flowers ever recover from drooping?

    1. No. They are programmed to bloom and die. In a perfect year with all factors as good as they can possibly be, sunflowers usually bloom two weeks and then die. If something speeds up the process (like 17 days over 100 degrees like last year) it just speeds up the process. This was a pretty good year.
